Georgia Sacred Harp Photos and Videos
|
The following singers have created online photo albums of Sacred Harp singings in Georgia as well as many other states.
They frequently add new pictures:
Joeff Davis of Creative Loafing made an online photo gallery and video of the 2009 Spivey Hall singing.
Here are 2008 pictures of the grave
of B.F. and Thurza White at Oakland Cemetery, showing tornado damage to the magnolia tree that covered the gravestones.
This was a full canopy, but no more. Photos by John Plunkett.

Charles Woods shares this reminiscence about Holly Springs: "The 1950s were very dry, especially in West Georgia.
I lived on a farm outside Bremen with my grandfather, H.N. McGraw, and we depended on a well for our water supply. In 1954,
I think, the well dried up earlier in the summer, so we drove daily to Holly Springs to fill up buckets and bottles to provide
household water. We had a small creek to wash clothes and take baths, but the creek was also shared with cattle, so we obviously
couldn't drink it. I checked my memories with Charlene Wallace this past weekend, and she confirmed that many families in the
Bremen area depended on Holly Springs during those years of drought. Over the years, the spring filled up with debris until it
was restored by Hugh McGraw. The Spring House is something new in the history of this valuable natural resource."
